A magnetic ion-source of the Heil type

Abstract

Construction and technical difficulties of a Heil source are given, together with some preliminary measurements. We compare the efficiency of the Finkelstein source and the Heil source. The electrical yield of the H-source is 40 times smaller than the yield of the F-source.
