Background
The big data competition has been jointly organized by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the auspices of UNESCO (IKCEST), the China Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (CKCEST), Baidu, and Xi’an Jiaotong University. The Ministry of Education, and the Universities Alliance of the Silk Road are also involved. The aim is to identify top talent in the global big data and artificial intelligence sector, particularly talented individuals from Belt and Road countries, in an effort to help the government, industry, and higher education institutions jointly drive the research, application, and development of the big data industry, and cultivate innovative AI talent.
Topic: How to Spot Multi-modal Misinformation in Social Networks

With the diversified development of information media in the new media era, different kinds of contents are immensely active within media outlets. Meanwhile, all kinds of false information are also filled with social media, affecting public judgment and decision-making. For online public opinion and social governance, it is of great significance to spot false or misleading information from a mass of multimodal information such as texts, images through big data and artificial intelligence technologies.

For the purpose of this competition topic, participants are required to rely on the officially designated data set to establish the relationship between cross-modal data for the same event (mainly texts and images) through modeling. The goal is to detect the falsity and authenticity of any modal information. Participants are encouraged to solve problems and explore technologies through large models.
