Heart rate and body temperature as indices of metabolic rate during work

G. Berggren E. Hohwü Christensen
Abstract

The possibility of using heart rate and body temperature as indices of metabolic rate during work has been investigated. Pulse determinations can advantageously be used at work of short duration whereas body temperature determinations can be useful for work of long dunation. These methods have to be used with great care due to the fact that both heart rate and body temperature can vary independent of metabolic rate.
