Les exclus du boom migratoire mexicain
Despite the migratory economic boom made possible in Mexico due to its porous border with the United States, the benefits are not equally distributed inside the Mexican population. The fact that not all rural households are capable of sending migrants abroad is often understated and is a problem that calls for nuances in the analysis of the human capital of rural households. The impossibility of joining migration circuits for some households in a context of state downsizing makes life increasingly precarious as they are cut off from an important source of income. This paper argues that a new economic vulnerability emerges among non-migrant rural households. New forms of social exclusion challenge former sets of social categories as they permeate all segments of the Mexican rural population.
