The Cerebrospinal Fluid in the Bovine: Its Composition and Properties in Health and Disease, with Special Reference to “Turning Sickness”
Summary It is felt that we have insufficient data on which to draw conclusions regarding any chemical changes in the cerebrospinal fluid in turning sickness, though the alteration in the ratio of urea nitrogen to non protein nitrogen in the case of bovine No. 3557 suggests a disturbance in basal metabolism. (The urea nitrogen was 45·8 per cent. of the N.P.N. on 31.5.38, and 81-5 per cent. on 21.7.38). The general characteristics of the cerebrospinal fluid in turning sickness have been described.
