Critical study of the relationship between asgins pectoris and coronary atherosclerosis
The clinical diagnosis of atherosclerosis is difficult in the living man, and in this difficulty lies an important obstacle to the statistical study of this disease. However, among the indirect evidences which may reveal the presence of atherosclerosis, angina pectoris (angina of effort) arouses special interest, since it is one of the main clinical expressions of coronary atherosclerosis. Its identification can usually be made accurately, and is infrequently mistaken.1 The scope of this study is to assess the reliability of this symptom when used as a clinical criterion of coronary atherosclerosis.
