Introduction:
Hong Tao has been dedicating to medical virology for 50 years, specialized in Virus Morphology and Morphogenesis and Immune Electron Microscopy. He has published 250 papers in domestic and abroad. As Chief-Editor, published 9 books, including the one in English. He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Journal of Experimental and Clinical Virology.
His two outstanding original contributions to the world virology, namely the discovery and characterization of the unique Human Group B Rotavirus (Adult Diarrhea Rotavirus-ADRV), and the Discovery of the Morphology and Immune Electron Microscopically identification of the viruses of Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS-Hantan virus) have been unanimously recognized and have been adopted by WHO’s as the routinely standard for morphological identification of these groups of viruses.( Lancet 1983; Lancet 1984; Ciba Foundation Symposium 128,London, 1986)
