November 29, 2015, the Kuwait oil company will be hosting the leading “Kuwait Sustainable Energy Conference and Exhibition”. The conference aims to support Kuwait’s 2030 energy vision to increase energy supply from renewables to 15%. In addition, the conference is considered to be a vital platform to discuss both strategic and technical solutions for energy efficiency and power generation.

The conference brings together key regional and international industry players to help formulate strategies, discuss the latest case studies and benchmark global best practice.

As a leading organization in sustainable energy in the Arab region, RCREEE will be participating in the event. RCREEE head of projects and technical affairs, Dr. Maged Mahmoud will moderate a session entitled “MENA region sustainable energy prospects”. In his session, Dr. Maged will discuss an in-depth view on how the energy policy is changing in the MENA region, identifying the growth prospects for unconventional energy sources and future opportunities.

The 3 day conference will also address the utilization of renewable energy in the region, and the culture, social and legislation role in energy optimization. In addition, the conference aims to share knowledge with cross-industry organizations to achieve energy optimization goals across Kuwait. It will also highlight the latest research and technology and provide an update on the latest regulatory laws.

Notably, Kuwait has joined RCREEE as a member state back in August 2014. Through its main 3 working areas, RCREEE is working with the Kuwaiti government in attempt to achieve the 2030 target. This targets are to be achieved by capitalizing on the country’s wind and solar energy potential. Kuwait has also set energy efficiency targets to reduce energy consumption by 10% in the residential and industrial sector, as well as to improve power generation efficiency by 5% in the utility sector.
