China on Wednesday launched a comprehensive three-year initiative for further standardizing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

The plan, spearheaded by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NATCM), seeks to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern medical practices.

At the heart of the initiative is the effort to further standardize TCM practices. By upgrading the system which has over 3,000 items of standards, the NATCM aims to further enhance the safety, efficacy and consistency of TCM treatments.

Another key component of the initiative is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into TCM. By harnessing the power of AI, Chinese researchers hope to develop advanced diagnostic tools and personalized treatment plans.

China is also committed to promoting international cooperation in TCM research and development. By sharing knowledge and expertise with other countries, China hopes to make TCM a viable complementary or alternative therapy in the global healthcare market.

NATCM officials told reporters that the standardization of TCM will help its development. Though different TCM practitioners have different ways of thinking, they still share a significant number of similarities, an official said.
