by Martina Fuchs

MONTREUX, Switzerland, July 19 (Xinhua) -- French singer Samanta Cotta aka Santa said at the ongoing Montreux Jazz Festival here that she hopes to visit China soon and "win more musical hearts" there.

"As an artist, to perform in front of a new audience, meet other people, other cultures and to create a union, emotions and bridges with music, is a dream," said Santa, who has never been to China.

She talked to Xinhua during the festival's 58th edition taking place here from July 5 to 20.

Having made her name with the pop rock group Hyphen Hyphen, the singer from Nice, France, has landed a hit with "Popcorn Sale" ("Salted Popcorn") from her debut album "Recommence-moi."

With her powerful voice and poetic lyrics, the young musician pays tribute to various great names, while infusing her music with a touch of modernity.

Santa said that she was impressed by China's music scene and technological innovations, and hopes to launch a drone show there.

"I've seen a lot of drone shows in China. That is a new idea I had in mind. I'd love to visit and perform there," Santa explained.

The Montreux Jazz Festival, founded in 1967, is an international festival and events platform for music lovers.
