The Materials Today ‘Rising Star Awards’ recognize early career researchers in materials science and engineering who have demonstrated themselves to be exceptionally capable researchers with the potential to become future leaders in the field.

In 2022, the Awards will comprise an honorarium of USD 1000, and the opportunity to author a special review article for the flagship Materials Today journal. The Awards will be presented virtually, at a convenient time for all winners. This year, the Awards will be presented in the fields of:

  • Biomaterials
  • Energy Conversion & Storage
  • Materials Data Science & AI
  • Quantum Materials

We are now seeking nominations for the 2022 Awards in the fields listed above, for candidates within approximately 10 years of completing their PhD who have demonstrated themselves to be the most exceptionally capable researchers with the potential to become future leaders in the field: as such the criteria to be assessed will include the impact of the research the candidate has conducted and the contributions the candidate has made to the materials community, including but not limited to the candidate’s published research, as judged by the panel.

To submit a nomination:

  1. Complete the nomination form linked below and submit it before the deadline.

Self-nominations are required: please submit your nomination by 1st October 2022.
