OnePlus Nord users to get stable OxygenOS 12 OTA update

The OnePlus Nord (review) users will start receiving the stable version of the OxygenOS 12 update based on Android 12. OnePlus had previously released the beta version of the software not too long ago. The stable version will be available to users via an OTA (over the air) update.

The new update will bring new features such as an enhanced dark mode, a OnePlus Shelf, and an overhauled design. The update will be available to those on Android 11 and those trying out the beta version.

While the rollout process is underway in India, OnePlus has stated that the rollout in the European Union requires extra validation steps. However, the update should hit the European markets “as soon as possible”, according to OnePlus.

OnePlus shared this news via its community news forum. They also highlighted some issues that a future update will aim to fix as well. OnePlus has been rolling out a plethora of mid-range Nord devices, but it’s great to see that the original Nord will also be getting some much-needed love in the form of OS and security updates.

The stable update for OnePlus Nord users is around 4 GB and it also packs the April 2022 security patch. So, users must ensure to have the requisite space available in order to install the update successfully. The phone should also be at above 30 per cent battery to kick off the update.

In order to install the new update, head over to Settings on your device. Now, navigate to System Updates. Your phone will begin looking for any new updates automatically. You can also choose to perform a manual search. You can go ahead and update the device if it appears and if not, keep checking back as it is being rolled out in a phased manner.
