Belfast-based IT services provider Kainos Group has reported revenue of GBP 178.8 million for the year ending 31 March 2020, up 18 percent from GBP 151.3 million a year earlier. Adjusted pre-tax profit was up 9 percent to GBP 25.5 million, from GBP 23.3 million. This was the 10th consecutive year of growth in revenue and adjusted pre-tax profit.
Total sales orders for the year reached GBP 243.6 million, up 42 percent from GBP 171.7 million, with SaaS sales orders of GBP 30.5 million, up 66 percent from GBP 18.4 million a year earlier. Contracted backlog was GBP 180 million as of 31 March, up 47 percent from GBP 122.2 million. Kainos continued revenue diversification during the year, with international revenues up 72 percent from GBP 23.2 million to GBP 39.9 million; commercial revenues up 58 percent from GBP 40 million to GBP 63.1 million; and healthcare revenues up 9 percent from GBP 21.4 million to GBP 23.3 million.
The Digital Services division generated revenue of GBP 122.5 million, up 4 percent from GBP 117.3 million a year earlier, with significant ongoing engagements in the UK government's digital transformation programme. The Workday Practice division generated revenue of GBP 56.3 million for FY20, up 66 percent from GBP 34 million a year earlier, with smart revenues up 69 percent to GBP 19.1 million, from GBP 11.3 million.
Kainos ended the year with net cash of GBP 40.8 million, down 4 percent from GBP 42.5 million. During the year it completed the acquisitions of Formulate in the UK, Implexa in Germany and IntuitiveTEK in the US to enhance the Adaptive Insights business. These three companies contributed GBP 1.1 million of revenue during the period.
