The United States Department of Agriculture reported this week that direct payments to dairy farmers under the Coronavirus Financial Assistance Program (USDA) now total just under $667 million dollars. Payments have been made to 12,084 dairy farmers to date.
That means about 35 percent of U.S. dairy farmers have received CFAP benefits as of June 15.
The largest outlay has gone to Wisconsin dairy farmers, totaling more than $156 million. The payments went to 2,975 farms.
Five hundred thirty eight California dairy farmers received nearly $87.5 million, and 1,467 New York dairy farmers received $79 million.
