Enagás has received EU support for the development of 16 vehicle supply points for biogas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hydrogen.

The refuelling stations will be developed under the company’s ECO-net Project, will be supported by Scale Gas, a start-up developed under Enagás’ corporate venturing programme. The ECO-net Project has received support from firms including Toyota and GASNAM.

The project has a global budget of around €13 million and includes the construction of 16 alternative fuel supply points to traditional fuels for heavy vehicles and passenger cars within a period of up to three years. The supply points, including one hydrogen station – the first in Spain at 700 bar pressure –will be distributed along the Spanish corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network.

The ECO-net Project, Spanish Network of Alternative Fuels Refuelling Stations, is part of the Connect Europe (CEF European funds) mechanism, which promotes sustainable and efficient transport. This initiative is in line with Directive 2014/94/EU for the development of infrastructures for alternative fuels with the Spanish National Action Framework for alternative energy in transport.

In addition to financial support from the Commission, the project has received a loan from the Official Credit Institute that covers approximately 50% of the project. Enagás will contribute the remaining amount.
