The fourth of in total eight CLEANBU vessels was delivered Tuesday this week, from New Yangzi Shipbuilding (YZJ) to Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC). The vessel will start trading in the second half of September and is scheduled to load caustic soda from Taiwan to Australia on her maiden voyage.
Yesterday the new vessel was celebrated at the shipyard in Jingjiang City, China and the vessel was named MV Baleen by Ms. Sandy Guan of Klaveness.

The MV Baleen is named after the “Baleen whale”, a type of whale which includes the Blue whale – the largest whale and largest sea creature we have today. Ocean pollution and climate change threatens whales, fishes and all other life at sea. Our commitment to clean oceans is reflected in the naming of our CLEANBUs as they are all named after fish and sea creatures (Baru, Barracuda, Barramundi, Baleen etc.).

In KCC’s operations, the MV Baleen will be part of the most environmentally friendly fleet of deep-sea shipping solutions, ensuring a substantially lower carbon footprint than comparable standard tankers and dry bulk vessels.
