
The Pro Farmer Crop Tour heads into derecho damaged areas of Illinois and Iowa Wednesday, offering the first on-the-ground accounting of damage from the severe storm.
Crop Tour scouts will count corn that is deemed still viable in damaged fields, according to Pro Farmer Editor Brian Grete, but the process of separating rows in downed corn and determining which stalks have snapped will slow down the scouting process.
