Colombian operator Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB) reported a 2 percent year on year decline in revenues to COP 679.96 billion (around USD 180 million) in the first 6 months of 2020, attributed mostly to Covid-19 impact. Net losses widened to COP 169.35 billion (around USD 45 million) in H1 compared to a COP 21.70 billion profit a year earlier, while EBITDA fell 7.2 percent to COP 215.56 billion, with a 31.7 percent margin.
The company had a total of 655,000 fixed broadband customers at the end of June, up 23,000 in Q2 alone, with fibre-optic clients accounting for two-thirds (66%) of the total. Pay-TV customers rose 4,000 to 130,000 but mobile telephony customers slipped to 352,000 at the end of June, including 182,000 on postpaid contracts.
ETB last month committed to investing around CLP 1.2 trillion (USD 330 million) over the next 4 years to increase its fibre-optic coverage to 90 percent of Bogota's metropolitan area.
