Late Week Heavy Rain and Snow Again for the Northeast

Late Week Heavy Rain and Snow Again for the Northeast

2 Dec 2020, 6:00 am

Another strong storm system will affect the eastern sections of the nation later this week, bringing another potential for heavy rain and snow. The southern jet stream will merge with the northern branch over the region, creating a strong system at the end of the week. At the surface, a low from the south and a clipper system from Canada will link into one stronger low pressure center by Saturday.

Early model forecasts are showing the potential for heavy rain along the coast, and heavy snow for interior areas and higher elevations of New England. These are early projections, so be sure to check back with us for updated forecasts on expected snow and rain totals.

The low pressure center will move through the Tennessee Valley Friday and into the Middle Atlantic early Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, the low will be stronger as it moves into the Northeast, bringing heavy rain and snow.

Right now, the winter storm outlook has a low potential for winter storm conditions, but that will likely change and increase over the coming days.

Be sure to check back with WeatherNation on-air and online throughout the week if you live in the Northeast. We will have updates on the potential for heavy rain and snow, along with any alerts issued.
