Lake Effect Snow in the Northeast

Behind the main front, colder air will fill in across the Northeast with the potential for heavy lake effect snow, mainly across the Tug Hill Plateau and along the Eastern Shores of Lake Erie.

Snow So Far

The northeast has already seen some snow as a cold front moved through Saturday. Here’s a look at some of our top snow totals since Saturday across the northeast.

Typically when we see lake effect snow bands some isolated areas are able to pick up on significantly more snow than others as seen into northern New York. The highest reported totals so far topping off at 24″ with likely a few additional inches through tonight.

Winter Weather Alerts

Winter Weather Alerts have been issued across the snow belt for areas like Erie, Pennsylvania through Hamburg, New York. In green, lake effect snow warnings are in effect through Tuesday where we could see between 8 -12″ snow totals.
