Record Heat Won’t Quit for the East

26 May 2021, 1:40 pm

Heat continues across the eastern seaboard for the rest of the workweek! We set quite a few new record highs across the east on Tuesday with more heat on the way today!

Potential Records

Cities from Maine through North Carolina will have the opportunity to tie or break heat records on Wednesday, May 26th.

Heat will continue into Thursday with another chance of tying or breaking records for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast again.

Forecast

For the east, heat will continue into Thursday, although temperatures will step their way down as we head into the weekend. With severe storms in the forecast on Wednesday, rain should help to cool temperatures *some* in the afternoon.

For Florida & the south, heat doesn’t look to break as we head into the weekend. Make sure you’re taking breaks from the heat & staying hydrated!

For the mid-Atlantic, temperatures will drop Saturday into Sunday as a potent cold front moves through. This will spark the severe weather threat Friday into Saturday too. We’ll stay on top of that potential here at WeatherNation.

We are covering the potential record heat & severe weather threat as we head into the weekend as top weather stories on WeatherNation but also in our east regional forecast, :10 after the hour.
