Heat Continues from the Plains to East Coast

5 Jun 2021, 11:15 am

Many places across the country have been feeling the June heat. Daily records have been broken and more are expected across the north-central United States. In fact, the heat is one of the ingredients that will fuel thunderstorms (Read more on the severe weather outlook here), AND fuel fire weather.

Let’s start off with the heat.

High Plains – Midwest

After days of record heat, we will continue to spill the potential record highs into the work week forecast too. Cities like Fargo, Duluth and Wausau could be in for 90 degree temperatures almost all week long.

Average temperatures this time of year are typically in the mid to upper 70s where we’ll stay in the 90s!

Heat Advisories have been issued for the Minneapolis Metro through Thursday with heat indices in the high 90s and triple digits.

Overnight lows will also remain in the 70s so there will not be a whole lot of relief from the heat.

Because of the hot temperatures, red flag warnings have been prompted through Sunday afternoon. Dry conditions, some gustier winds

Northeast

The northeast has had quite the stretch of hot temperatures and it will only continue.

Heat alerts have been issued through Tuesday.

Be sure to tune into WeatherNation for the latest on this record-breaking heat every 10, 30 and 50 minutes past the hour for your regional forecasts.
