BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A number of cooperation agreements were signed at the Xi'an International Grain and Oil Summit held from February 22-23 in Xi'an, capital city of Shaanxi Province in northwest China, reported yidaiyilu.gov.cn on Tuesday.

The summit, themed “enhancing international cooperation and securing food safety”, aims at fostering agricultural cooperation between China and the grain and oil producers along the Belt and Road routes.

During the summit, the China National Vegetable Oil Association (CNVOA) signed an agreement with a grain and oil association from Russia to promote related cooperation.

Xi'an International Trade and Logistics Park management committee signed a cooperation agreement with COFCO Trading and Yihai Kerry Group, two firms in China engaging in grain and oil business, to quicken the construction of the international food trade channel in Xi’an.

Comprehensive bonded zones or cross-border economic cooperation zones in cities such as Xi’an, Lanzhou and Yinchuan in northwest China inked memorandums of cooperation to jointly promote the internationalization of China’s grain and oil industry.

Besides, a declaration focusing on international cooperation and mutual benefits in the grain and oil field was issued at the summit, clarifying Xi’an as the permanent host city of the International Grain and Oil Summit.

It is reported that as China's only inland designated port for grain imports, Xi'an International Trade and Logistics Park has effectively promote the international trade in the grain and oil industry. Data showed that the grain imports via the Chang'an China-Europe international freight train in 2018 reached 26,000 metric tons (tonnes). (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
