PS5 announcement: Updates and rumours
Why 9 September?
It’s no coincidence that 9 September is the 25th anniversary of the release of the PlayStation 1. Some would say it’s the perfect day for a PS5 announcement, and we’re here for it.
But wait, there’s more. UK retailer Game Guildford may have hinted at the Sony PS5 event as well. In a now-deleted tweet, Game Guildford said:
Other than Game in the UK teasing an event for 9 September, PlayStation 5 leakster @foxygames_uk posted a tweet with the caption, “SEPTEMBER #PS5”, along with an image of the 2009 animated movie 9.
Another set of rumours predicts that the event will take place at 15:00 South African Standard Time (SAST).
Release date and price
We’ve already seen all the game trailers, and we know how the DuelSense Controller work and we have seen the PS5 Digital Edition in detail. Now, we’re just waiting for a release date and retail selling price.
Sony has yet to confirm both pricing and an official release day for the PS5, thus far only revealing bits and pieces about the next-gen hardware and DuelSense Controllers.
Knowing Sony, they could spring the event on us at any time today. Watch this space, we will update this article as and when new information becomes available. One netizen’s theory:
