Jessica Ronnell, ID@Xbox Events and Community Management Lead, confirmed on 21 July 2020 that more than 70 demo games are now available to play for free from the Xbox Dashboard.

Xbox released free demo games as part of the Summer Game Fest line, and ahead of the big Xbox event later this week. There is a catch, however, you only have from now until 27 July 2020.

How to access free Xbox games?

Simply head over to the Xbox Dashboard and choose the demo section. You’ll have nearly 80 free demos to chose from, from Cris Tales and PHOGS! to Cake Bash and Rover Wars: Battle For Mars.

Steam players will spot several familiar titles. These have now been added to again to demo on Xbox. This time around, you’ll also have access to additional exclusives.

Do note that these games will continue to evolve as the developers remove bugs, add updates and give it a good polish before releasing it. Think of these games as show floor demos.

They may be buggy or they might not look all that great just yet. You know how you’d queue for hours at rAge to play the latest demos? It’s just like that. Expect no queues and no suspect scents lingering in the air.
