There aren’t too many high quality videos from the Apollo era, but one resourceful bloke painstakingly cut and stitched together thousands of photo to make for one entertaining stop motion video. Each frame is a photograph taken by one of the Apollo astronauts during the ’60s or ’70s, which the author sourced from the Project Apollo Archive. Of course, there’s an 8bit soundtrack to spice things up.

“I was looking through the Project Apollo Archive and at one point, I began clicking through a series of pics quickly and it looked like stop motion animation,” creator harrisonicus wrote in the video’s description on Vimeo. “So, I decided to see what that would look like without me having to click through it. Enjoy!”

Seems like artists went nuts with the archive. Using 3D motion effects, Tom Kucy used the same set of photos to build a video that transitions seamlessly called “Ground Control”. Seriously, you’d think all was shot on the video.
