From July 28 to August 11, 2024, the "Belt and Road" international training course on resource, environmental science data sharing and disaster prevention and reduction knowledge services was successfully held at the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Resources, China Academy of Sciences. This training attracted 70 students from 15 countries along the Belt and Road Initiative to register, and finally admitted 20 students from 7 countries including Pakistan, Mongolia, Russia, Egypt, Iran, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The training course lasted for 15 days, and the themes revolved around scientific data sharing platform technology, scientific data governance and standard specification technology, disaster prevention and reduction knowledge service applications, disaster emergency remote sensing monitoring, disaster risk assessment, data sharing and international cooperation in disaster prevention and reduction, aiming to Promote the international cooperation system for resource and environmental data sharing, enhance regional disaster prevention and reduction capabilities and sustainable development capabilities, and support international cooperative research on the Belt and Road Initiative. At the opening ceremony of the training, Su Fenzhen, Deputy Director of the Institute of Geographical Resources, China Academy of Sciences, delivered a welcome speech. Researcher Wang Juanle, the person in charge of the training course and the team leader of the IKCEST disaster prevention and reduction sub-platform, briefly reviewed the international training courses held in the past and introduced the main arrangements for this training course. A total of 26 lecture reports and 5 technical visits were organized in this training class. Among them, Dr. Liu Chang, Secretary-General of IKCEST, delivered the report "UNESCO International Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge Center (IKCEST): Concepts and Practice"; Researcher Wang Juanle delivered the report "Frontiers and Trends of Earth Big Data" and "International Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge Center Disaster Prevention and Reduction Knowledge Service System" report.
