Background
Under the guidance of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Ministry of Education College Computer Course Teaching Steering Committee and the University Alliance of the Silk Road(UASR), this year ’s Big Data Competition is co-hosted by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) under the Auspices of UNESCO, the China Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (CKCEST), Baidu and Xi’an Jiaotong University, aiming to focus on the countries along the Belt and Road, seek the global big data and artificial intelligence talents through competition,zchieve the goal of government-industry-university joint efforts to promote the research, application and development of big data industry, further consolidate the theoretical and practical foundation of the competition and accelerate the cultivation of top AI innovative talents.
Topic: Forecasting the future incidence of highly pathogenic contagious diseases
It’s a common challenge for all human beings to effectively prevent and control contagious diseases. Accurately predicting their spreading speed and trends with big data, especially the spatio-temporal correlation characteristics of big data, will greatly help human society to control the contagious diseases and ensure the safety of public health. We hope that the contestants from all over the world will fully utilize your intelligence and wisdom,use big data technology to help to predict and control the spreading of contagious diseases, and to enhance the awareness and ability of human society in cooperating against risks.

Schedule settings
The contest is divided into three stages: preliminary, semi-final and final. (Registration time:May 1th, 2020 -June 25th, 2020)
Preliminary Round (May 1st, 2020 -June 25th, 2020)

1)May 1st – The data is available for download.

2)May 7th – The online evaluation of stage A is available. Each team may submit up to 5 times per day and the leaderboard is updated daily in real time.

3)June 11th – The online evaluation of stage B is available. Each team may submit up to 2 times per day and the leaderboard is updated daily in real time.

4)June 25th – End of the preliminary round. The top 100 ranking teams of stage B in the preliminary round will enter the semi-final round (This number will increase or decrease based on the actual situation. The list of semi-finalists will be determined by the organizers in time).

5)Free high-performance GPU computing power support
The PaddlePaddle Open Source Deep Learning Platform will be available in the preliminary round. Contestants can log into Baidu Brain AI studio to activate a 100-hour Tesla V100 GPU computing power card (worth 1,000 RMB) for free provided by the Organizational Committee.

Semi-Final Round (July 1st, 2020 - July 31st, 2020)

1)July 1st – The data will be available for download.

2)July 3rd – The online evaluation of stage A is available. Each team may submit up to 5 times per day and the leaderboard is updated daily in real time.

3)July 24th – The online evaluation of stage B is available. Each team may submit up to 2 times per day and the leaderboard is updated daily in real time.

4)July 31st – End of the semi-final round. The semi-finalists should submit their files and codes in time as required.

5)August 8th – The finalists will be announced, and the top 16 teams in the semi-finals will enter the finals.(This number will increase or decrease based on the actual situation. The list of semi-finalists will be determined by the organizers in time).

Final Round and Award Ceremony (Expected to be in September 2020. See the notice for details.)

The final round will be held in the form of an on-site defense session, and its location will be determined at a later date.

Registration and Evaluation

Qualified Participants

1、Participants: The competition is open to the world. Individuals, college students, scientific research units, enterprises, maker teams, and other personnel can register for the competition,-Each team is composed of 1-5 people with at least one student per team,Please sign up on the competition's official website.

2、Instructor: Each team can be guided by 0-2 instructors. Please go to the official website of the competition to register for the team and select the identity as "Teacher".
Note: The relevant members of the Baidu contest group are prohibited from participating; The competition Organizational committee reserves its right of final interpretation.

Registration Matters

1、Please name your team freely, but uncivilized words,words touching "Baseline", words containing the name of offical and well-known enterprises and other misleading word,etc,are not allowed.

2、To ensure the fairness of the competition, each participant can only register one team, and each team can have an instructor.

3、Ensure that the registration information of the participan is accurate and valid, otherwise the participation qualification will be cancelled.

4、The official contest communication channel: please join the QQ Contest Communication Group after applying: 1045750018 (Please note the name of your team for evaluation and approval by the administrator).

Evaluation Process

1、Time: The rating system will be up and running from May 7th and the leaderboard will be updated in real time;

2、Two-stage leaderboard: The leaderboard is calculated with approximately 30% of the test data when in stage A,and is calculated with approximately 70% of the test data when in stage B. Each team may submit up to 5 times per day in stage A and 2 times per day in stage B. The final result is based on the leaderboard of stage B;

3、Evaluation method: All submissions are automatically rated by the system with a judge verifying the results;

4、Semi-final and final score accounts for 90% and 10% of the total score, respectively.

Baidu's Campus Recruitment Green Channel

The finalists (fresh graduates only) will have the opportunity to directly enter the Baidu's campus recruitment interview (without written test). Contestants who entering the semi-finals will gain access to Baidu's green channel for internal recommendations and non-fresh graduates can hold this opportunity for up to two years
