UNESCO Science Centres Coordination Meeting was held from 16 to 18 May 2016, at Beijing Conference Centre. A total of 160 participants from over 30 countries gathered in Beijing, including representatives from UNESCO Science Centres, the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO headquarters and UNESCO field offices.
From 6 to 8 June, the second summit of UNESCO’s of Creative Cities Network will bring together mayors and deputy mayors from all parts of the world to examine how the Network can contribute to sustainable development in urban environments, in line with UNESCO’s Culture and Sustainable Urban Development Initiative and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Director-General thanked the President for his visit to UNESCO and expressed deep appreciation for the fruitful relationship between Georgia and the Organization across the full spectrum of the Organization’s fields of competence, and in particular in the fields of education and culture.
At the invitation of the Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA), CAS President Bai Chunli recently paid a visit to Cambodia and carried out an inspection on the “Remote Sensing for Environment of Angkor Site” (REAS) project, which is undertaken by the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the auspices of UNESCO.
Minister of Science Technology and Innovation Malaysia (MOSTI), YB Dato’ Seri Panglima Madius Tangau visited the UK National STEM Centre, York on 18 May 2016. He was accompanied by ISTIC Governing Board Chairman, Dato Ir. Lee Yee Cheong. They were received by Sir John Holman, founding Director of the York STEM Centre.
