What is IKCEST?
The International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (shortened as “IKCEST”) is a category 2 centre under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (shortened as “UNESCO”). IKCEST was established on June 2, 2014. The Chinese Academy of Engineering is responsible for the operation and management of the IKCEST.
Under the auspices of UNESCO, IKCEST is a comprehensive and international knowledge centre devoted to the engineering sciences, technology and applied technology. IKCEST aims at connecting engineering sciences and technology institutions globally, assembling various digital resources relating to engineering sciences and technology, building up a public data service platform and corresponding service environment, and coordinating the building of various professional knowledge systems, thus providing knowledge-based services at a global scale in the form of consultancies, scientific research and education for policy-makers and engineering science and technology professionals in the world, with particular reference to the developing countries.
What’s amazing about the training workshop?
The theme of the training workshop is “Big Data Technology Application and Knowledge Service”. The training workshop aims at helping developing countries cultivate talent and build capacity in the field of information technology and improving the data aggregating, processing, mining, analyzing capabilities of professionals to better support sustainable development.
We will invite experienced experts and specialists from College of Computer Science of Zhejiang University, IKCEST R&D Team and IKCEST Secretariat to give lectures for the training workshop. By the end of courses, participants who have fulfilled the requirements of the course will receive a certificate of completion from IKCEST.
When and where will the training workshop take place?
The training course will be held in Hangzhou, China in November, 2016.
How much does the training workshop cost?
We do not charge registration fee, and IKCEST will cover local expenses including lodging, boarding, and city transportation for all participants of the workshop. International flight ticket and visa application cost is expected to be covered by each participant himself/herself. The maximum of applicants to be accepted is 40.
Who can apply for the training workshop?
Application from engineering science and technology personnel and related administrative personnel working for category 1 and 2 Institutes/Centres under the auspices of UNESCO is warmly welcomed. Females are encouraged to apply for the course, and we give preference to applicants from developing countries.
As lectures are given in English, it is essential that the applicants must have a good command of English in listening, speaking and writing.
